Guest Quotes

"Wow wow wow. I surprised my boyfriend with a Valentine’s Day/weekend trip to this yurt and it turned out to be the best weekend. I was a little worried about going in the winter and it turned out we went on the coldest night of the season, but it was still an amazing time—the yurt gets warm and the bed even toastier. When we woke up, we were greeted by lots of farm birds and goats who kept us company as we cooked breakfast in the out door kitchenette (which has so many supplies!). Jason gave us a tour of the barn, which was magical and such a great venue space. We later went on a hike near by and did a wine tasting at the local winery. We were even able to cook our dinner over the fire that night (even though there were multiple methods of cooking in the kitchenette). Every moment of this trip was perfect, all of the effort the hosts put into keeping the yurt comfortable and fun really elevated our weekend trip from a trip to a getaway. Soooo excited to go back"

"The farm was the perfect way to wind down and relax after a busy weekend at our friend’s wedding. The yurt is beautiful and charming and had everything we needed. It was a cold night but the space heaters kept us warm through the night. If you’re staying during the cooler months I recommend bringing some extra layers just in case. Jason was very communicative and made sure we had everything we needed. We especially loved meeting all the animals on the farm! If you are in the area this place is definitely worth the experience. We hope to come back!"

"A relaxing and rejuvenating experience. If you’re looking at this yurt and wondering if you should go visit? DO IT. It is located on a beautiful farm with a lovely stream and adorable animals. We felt like Disney princesses as the birds came running to us in the morning and followed us around for the rest of the day. The yurt is spacious and very warm and stocked with every and anything you might need! We had an amazing stay."

"I’m at a loss for words on how excellent an experience this was. Words like magical, whimsical, rejuvenating, fantastic, and healing come to mind but don’t quite capture the joy we had at the Yorkie Acres Farm yurt! The yurt is incredibly comfortable, beautiful, and has all the amenities you might need. The little touches like delicious lavender tea and the cute netting draped over the bed make it feel luxurious while the yurt itself still has a rustic feel to it. The river behind the yurt lulled us to sleep. We slept perfectly and woke up well rested and excited to see the farm. Jason and Alea and the farm are as inviting as could be. The landscape is like a Scottish or Irish countryside with all the expected features and beauty. The animals are unique and personable and full of spirit. We spent our morning getting to know their little personalities and peculiarities. Jason gave us the full recommendation for sightseeing and food and experiences in the area. We highly recommend you reach out for those recs before you arrive as there is delicious food, wine, and world class goat cheese just to the south of the farm. We will certainly be back soon to take full advantage of the area and spend some more excellent evenings and mornings in the yurt!"

"I wasn’t entirely sure what I was getting into but it sounded like a good time. It was. Our arrival was trumpeted by Mallie the duck. Jason was pleasant and gracious and wanted to help us get what we wanted from the experience. He showed us around and answered our questions. We met and fed the goats, the pony and various fowl. The sheep and highland cows were not feeling sociable but we got a peak at them. The goats were hysterical and fun to interact with. We then took advantage of the stream and rock beach (to dip our feet) which was very relaxing. Thoroughly enjoyed by all 4 adults. Would recommend appropriate foot ware as this is a working farm not a petting zoo. Oh and the yurt was cool too!"

"Taking part in this program was a special experience for me. Jason is passionate about his work and truly cares about his lovely animals, the environment, and preserving the history of this farm and its surroundings. He showed us every aspect of the farm, allowed us to interact with the animals, and allowed us to take our time and ask questions. I was inspired by his passion for nature and his dedication to sharing his farm and its story with others. As a volunteer with a goatscaping operation, I signed up for this outing to see the goats, but I got a lot more than I ever expected! Sheep, cows, chickens, a little horse, a duck! All of them living happily on Jason's farm!"
